Equinox

The archaeoastronomic phenomenon occurs in Dzibilchaltún when the door of the Temple of the Seven Dolls is filled with the glow of the rising sun: coming up over the horizon, the celestial body rests for a few moments right in the center of the doorway creating a spectacular display of light and shadow on the eastern façade.

The equinox can be observed on March 21 and September 21, in the area’s most important temple.
