Dzilam de Bravo

One of the best organized cooperatives, known as Dzayachuleb, operates here and offers various excursions to visit the natural reserve. There are hundreds of pink flamingos, cranes, egrets, and a wide variety of other water birds and some reptiles like the crocodile.

Another excursion, this time lasting two and half hours, will take you to the Xbuya Ha spring, where the bubbling fresh water emerges in bodies of salt water in a surprising phenomenon. You’ll take an interesting walk through the exuberant growth of different ecosystems. The path, built using a wood base, favors the conservation of natural resources in the area. The Elepten cenote, at the end of the trail, is home to many species of fish. If you prefer longer excursions, there are trips to the lagoon at Río Angosto, Bocas de Dzilam or even sport fishing.

To enjoy your nature trip for an extra day, spend the night in a tent in one of the camping areas.

The offices of the Cooperative are located in the town next to the Capitanía de Puerto, Port Captain, where your hosts offer sanitation services, a restaurant area and somewhere to just sit and relax.

We suggest you take purified water, bathing suit, binoculars, notebook, sunblock and lots of energy.
